Guidebook

Guidebook design

The successful completion of the Guidebook design marks a significant achievement in fostering inclusive education for children with visual impairments. This comprehensive tool, available in Greek, Italian, and English, empowers teachers, trainers, and families to craft accessible tactile stories. The meticulously curated guide encompasses two integral parts: Part A focuses on using the digital tool “Storybird” to design engaging digital stories, considering the unique needs of visually impaired readers. Meanwhile, Part B undergoes a thoughtful upgrade, tailored for users with varying digital proficiency and specializing in methodologies for both low vision and total blindness. The part B has been categorized in 3 levels (basic, intermediate, expert user) based on the level of the user.

The Guidebook’s impact extends beyond its initial audience, including consortium trainers, special education teachers, and families of visually impaired students. Through a strategic dissemination plan, mainstream schools and organizations supporting people with disabilities are also reached. This tangible outcome not only facilitates the creation of high-quality tactile materials but also positively influences the cognitive and communication skills of children with visual impairments. The Guidebook, a user-friendly resource requiring no prerequisite digital skills, emerges as a powerful catalyst for fostering an inclusive and enriching educational experience for visually impaired children.

During the design of this Guidebook e-Nable Greece, our expert partner in 3D printing, completed a series of pilots 3D prints testing the methodology of the Guidebook.
